Story of a Great Warrior from Coorg…..On Mental Wellness
There is a story from Coorg about a great Warrior who lived around 500 years back. From his childhood days he stood out with his exceptional abilities. So, he was sent away to acquire skills needed for war; also different circumstances made him acquire varied skills. Total number of skills he acquired till adulthood was around 55 to 60 skills; skills included archery, horse-riding, swimming, Ayurveda, wizardry and many other skills needed to be a great warrior. He was highly recognized and became well-known for his skills. Then one day he visited his in-laws and few relatives teased and mocked him. On this, he completely lost his mental balance; Thus, began his downfall and the 55+ skills he acquired did not help him. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna tells Arjuna that the mind can be a friend, but the same mind can also be an enemy. Cultivate the friendly side of your mind. Don’t give too much attention to the enemy.
